This ACS system rucksack hybrid represents the successful fusion of bike pack and day hiker requirements. The teardrop pack geometry is specifically designed for dual use, and features include attachments for a helmet and cycle lamp, an integral raincover and a pouch and tube duct for an on-board hydration system. High-vis reflective detailing improves visibility in poor light. The 24 litre version is sized for extended day trips carrying standard weatherproof kit.

AIR CIRCULATION SYSTEM (ACS)

The core of the system is the proven ACS System, but radically revamped and upgraded. In a series of tests we subjected various ventilation options to scientific investigation and incorporated the best ideas into the new AIR CONTROL SYSTEM. Ventilation has been improved considerably, with the openings in the waist belt and shoulder area working in tandem with new, reduced contact mesh elements to provide a ‘chimney effect’. The design concept behind JACK WOLFSKIN’s in-house developed, patented ACS® carrying system was to deliver maximum possible ventilation in the back and contact areas of the rucksack and harness system, making it particularly suitable for hiking and all-day use. ACS incorporates a tensioned mesh element between the back and the rucksack and perforated, air-permeable padding to deliver a comfortable carry even on that sweat-inducing uphill trudge. Warmth created between the mesh and the rucksack can escape in all four directions. The mesh contact surfaces are purposely kept as small as possible. Details:

-Flexible plastic back plate stabilises the rucksack.

-Two coarse-weave mesh elements hold the flexible moulded plastic plate under tension in a concave form to create a space in which air can circulate freely.

-Additional vents in the waist and shoulder areas produce an efficient chimney effect.

-Shoulder straps with large ventilation holes.
