The classic tunnel shape, originally designed for demanding trekking trips in the northern latitudes, gets a full REAL TUNNEL technical upgrade. Side wind stability - traditionally a weak point in classic tunnel tent design - is significantly improved, the usable interior space is maximised, the required pitching area minimised and the pitching procedure simplified. The 3-person version has an elongated vestibule and offers plenty of room, even when tentbound for long periods.
REAL TUNNELRepresenting a real innovation in tent construction, REAL TUNNEL™ tents incorporate some revolutionary new design features. Whereas conventional tent designs use a pole configuration that sets the poles at right angles to the ground, the lower section of the poles of the REAL TUNNEL™ tents are bent inwards and are anchored out using a triangular guying procedure, which directs the pressure caused by side winds through the poles to the ground. In other words, the pole configuration is self-supporting. In addition, this triangular guying produces an efficient tensioning mechanism that works against the forces attempting to push the poles inwards. At low to medium wind strengths, REAL TUNNEL™ tents can dispense with guylines completely. The tunnel design means the tents are at their widest approx. 30 cm above the ground; this produces a noticeable improvement in inner cabin space. REAL TUNNEL™ is a JACK WOLFSKIN in-house development and is trademark protected. POLYESTER 75 D This versatile synthetic fibre absorbs only 0.5% of its own weight in moisture and thus holds its shape well, even when wet. Also highly UV-resistant, it is durable and is easily coated or laminated. It is thus eminently suitable for use as a base material for functional jackets. In its ‘woven’ version we use it as the basis for fleece clothing, for our WARM ‘N UP range of performance underwear, in our ARMATECH PLUS rucksack material and in many of our footwear products. Nylon 70D breathable 100% Nylon HYDROFILM 70 D The groundsheet material of JACK WOLFSKIN´s tents consists of special lightweight polyester material with high tearstrength and durably waterproof coating. Even in its LITE version, the coating has a water column specification of 5,000mm. POLYESTER 75 D breathable Lightweight, very fast drying, air and vapour permeable polyester fabric, used as an inner tent material. NYLON 70 D BREATHABLE POLYESTER RIPSTOP 75 D (4000 mm)A lightweight and waterproof coated fabric in 70 denier polyamide. Used as a tent inner cabin material. A PU coated, waterproof, limited stretch polyester fabric (4000 mm water column rating), used for tent flysheets and tarps. A matrix of warp and weft ripstop threads enhances the tearstrength of the fabric.
